Matt Triplett comes by his love of motorsports honestly. At the age of 12, Matt and his dad built a soap box derby car and let gravity propel him down a hill. From the first race he was hooked but his request for “something with a motor” would turn into a lifetime of competition.

Matt Triplett comes by his love of motorsports honestly. At the age of 12, Matt and his dad built a soap box derby car and let gravity propel him down a hill. From the first race he was hooked but his request for “something with a motor” would turn into a lifetime of competition.
In his early teen years Matt raced competitively in dirt track go-karts. He won numerous local and state championships and began to compete on a National level, finishing in the top ten at the Dirt Track Nationals in Newton, Iowa.
A sponsor took notice of his go-kart expertise and was impressed that Matt worked on his own motors and chassis adjustments. The sponsor offered a full ride in a Legend Car. Matt’s career took off. He would spend the next several years winning state and local Legend Car Championships, at one point winning 21 out of 24 main events at Sandia Speedway in Albuquerque. He claimed regular wins at the famous Bullring in Las Vegas, NV. He would once again finish in the top ten at the Legend Car Nationals in Dodge City, Kansas.
This led to a new ride in a Ford Focus Midget. By now Matt’s racing experience and knowledge allowed him to compete nationally with wins and top finishes from the Midwest to California. He would claim a podium finish at the renowned “Twin 25's“ race in Irwindale.
By this time Matt was a young man and off to college. After two years at the University of New Mexico, Matt married his high school sweetheart and switched his attention to a career in aviation. He was in the first graduating class for Eclipse Aviation Mechanical training and went to work at Eclipse Aviation in Albuquerque, building the much anticipated Eclipse private jet. He would become a problem troubleshooter and jet engine builder for them until they dissolved the company over financial problems.
With his love of performance cars and his extensive experience and training, Matt decided to open Ultimate Performance with his business partner in 2012. With a humble beginning they started working out of his garage and in 2013 moved into their present location.
In 2016, Matt bought his partner out and became sole owner of Ultimate Performance. He has been extremely busy since. While general repairs on any vehicle are always available, Matt’s reputation as a performance builder, tuner, and racer have led him to where he is today. Top quality classic and modern street rods and racecars are in his shop on any given day. People come to him because of the attention to detail and professionalism he offers.
